2006 LBW Newsletter
VERY IMPORTANT:
CHANGE OF LOCATION FOR THE JANUARY 7TH LBW
MEETING
Brewster’s Lanes (Bowling Alley)
121 Viking Dr
(Just off of Main St. by the airport). Reedsburg
Meeting is at 1:30pm (note time
change)
608-524-2276
Old Business:
Got the 3 bulls sold—there is still concern about an injured horse, the
horse is healing and seems to be getting better.
Cargo Trailer:
Greg mentioned why we need a trailer, to haul rodeo equipment, the information
booth supplies, flags, etc. Rick Munz is looking into prices for a trailer.
Insurance:
Greg said our agent is getting quotes for us.
Senior Memberships: It was mentioned past members (who
no longer have kids in the rodeo) should get a discount on their
membership. A motion was made to lower the membership to $25, the motion
carried.
LBW
Contestants Who Violate Rules: A motion was made to give
any LBW contestant who is caught with alcohol, drugs, chew or smoking, a three
rodeo suspension. If caught a 2nd time, there will be a one
year suspension from the time of 2nd infraction. It was voted
on, and the motion carried.
Arenas:
If possible, at each rodeo we will have one arena open so the kids can
warm-up their horses prior to competition. There is some concern about
other events that may take place in the arena, such at cowboy church, queen
contest, and preparation of the arena. A motion was made to make it a
ground rule for each rodeo to determine whether or not the arena can be open
for the kids to use…motion carried.
Change In Age
Division: A motion was made to change the age division
because Jr. Wrangler age group is
different than LBW in goat-tying and Open Breakaway. A proposal was made
to raise the Boys goat-tying age from 6-12 to 6-14. the same with Open
breakaway. If a contestant enters tiedown—calfroping, he can’t enter Open
Breakaway, and vise versa. It was voted on, and the motion did not
carry…. The age division will stay the same.
Boomtruck: Still for sale….pass the word…$4500 or best
offer
Chute Running
Calves: A motion was
made to skip (in a roping event) a contestant if they are up in goats, this
would apply only to roping, not goats. A contestant who is in a roping
event, would be allowed to do their goat-tying event first, then this would
allow the next contestant who is up in the roping event to go ahead of that
contestant who is doing their goat-tying event. This would allow the
rodeo to move along quicker. It was voted on, and the motion carried.
Adult Drinking Prior
To And During Rodeo: The
insurance policy states that if alcohol is involved, they are not liable.
A motion was made to not allow alcohol near the arena prior or during the
rodeo. It was voted on, and the motion carried.
NEW BUSINESS:
Banquet Date: The 2007 rodeo banquet will be at Club 16 on
November 10th .
Grand Entry: A parent mentioned her concern about Grand
Entry and the potential for kids to get hurt because of uncontrolled horses,
and excessive speed. A suggestion was made to have a designated person at
the gate to monitor the kids as they enter the arena.
Roughstock Arena: A
parent mentioned their concern about the kids getting injured while competing
in the roughstock arena. A motion was made to hire pick-up men and
bullfighters to work the rodeos. It was mentioned that bullfighters get
on average $200 per performance. With 2 bullfighters, and two pick-up men
per rodeo for two days, would total $1600 for the weekend. The proposal
was tabled for now.
