Treasurers
Report. We currently have $10,374.48 in
checking, $18,392 in savings and we still need a check from Viroqua. Terri will contact Viroqua and take care of
this. All bills are paid and we’ve
settled up with McCormick. Viroqua check has been picked up.
Gary
took 2 bulls (Charlie Cat and Highroller) to market on Saturday (10/4).
We
have 3 signed contracts for 2009 rodeos from Mondovi, Dallas and Shawno.
Deadline for contracts is November
Rick
passed around the Rough Stock contract for anyone to look over. He discussed his meeting with Tomah Saddle
Club and gave them until January to determine if they would host a rodeo in
2009.
Update
on the banquet. Everything is taken
care of – beer has been ordered, dj cost is $125 plus a meal and we’ve acquired
some nice door prizes. Meal cost LBW
$8.50 members only pay $5. Dale
wondered if members could make desserts and bring to banquet since those aren’t
included in the meal.
Banquet
is November 15th, awards buckles are ordered and we’re close to our
budget. Everything went up
approximately 4% from last year, but they’re working with us because we are
repeat customers. It was asked that no
clothing be brought for the auction.
Dale
would like to get larger sponsors for all-around awards, etc. Duane suggested
that horse tack not be bought as an award for the rough stock riders since not
all of those students have horses.
Gary
took the rough stock to Prairie du Chien.
He took 22 horses/ponies, 13 bulls.
He has access to 3 bulls that will fit LBW nicely for $.60/lb and 2
could be for intermediate riders. The
money we get from the 2 bulls at market will almost pay for all 3. Gary voiced concern over the number of
intermediate bull riders versus the number of intermediate bulls. We have more riders than bulls.
Todd
motioned that Gary purchase the 3 bulls, Duane second the motion. Motion
carried.
Rick
asked that a rough stock committee be formed to handle the many issues with
Gary in charge. Brett, Duane and Nick
will also be on the committee. Gary
will have final say in disputes. Rick
also requested the committee report at next months meeting.
Abby
and Nick reported on the student meeting.
Many rough stock riders are concerned with the quality of bull fighters
and pick up men and well as the inconsistency of the stock. The students feel we should pay the bull
fighters and pick up men and Abby suggested the students get donations to go
towards that fee. Rick asked the
students to come up with ways to do raise the donations.
The
students also wanted to know if the Board wanted to keep the student board at 3
members of 6 members, which it states in the rule book. Rick felt it should be 6 members.
Rick brought up the subject of two go rodeos. All in attendance participated in this discussion and had different thoughts and suggestions on the subject. Nothing came out of this discussion and subject is tabled for a later date.
